Vajrasattva Retreat 2026

The main obstacles that prevent all the extraordinary experiences and realisations of the profound path from arising are negative actions, obscurations and habitual tendencies.* It is therefore essential to rely on the practice of Vajrasattva, the purification Buddha, whose meditation and mantra [will] remove the obstacles that prevent us from realising the nature of reality as it is. Vajrasattva practice makes our innate compassion, loving-kindness, and wisdom shine brightly so we can be of benefit to all living beings.**

The Dhargyey Buddhist Centre in Dunedin, is delighted to invite you to a Vajrasattva purification retreat overseen by Venberable Lhagon Rinpoche, Geshe Dhonye and Geshe Gyatso. The retreat will take place at the Dhargyey Buddhist Centre in Dunedin from Thursday, October 1 at 7 PM until Sunday, October 4, at midday. It will feature intensive Vajrasattva practice and the recitation of the 100-syllable Vajrasattva mantra, with the option of taking the Eight Mahayana Precepts.

A donation of $180 is required to attend the full retreat, ($120 for Friday afternoon to Sunday) which will cover vegetarian breakfasts, lunches, and refreshments for three days, as well as a contribution towards utility costs at the DBC and a koha for the translator. All fees are waived for ordained sangha members. For those attending on Zoom, or not joining us for meals, a contribution of $75 will be appreciated ($50 Friday to Sunday).

The sadhana will be available to participants at the retreat, and the full schedule will be emailed to you in September.

Participants are required to book their own accommodation, and there are various good options nearby. We recommend booking early to ensure you can secure your accommodation for the retreat.
