The main obstacles that prevent all the extraordinary experiences and realisations of the profound path from arising are negative actions, obscurations and habitual tendencies.* It is therefore essential to rely on the practice of Vajrasattva, the purification Buddha, whose meditation and mantra [will] remove the obstacles that prevent us from realising the nature of reality as it is. Vajrasattva practice makes our innate compassion, loving-kindness, and wisdom shine brightly so we can be of benefit to all living beings.**

The Catlins Retreat in Owaka, in conjunction with the Dhargyey Buddhist Centre in Dunedin, is delighted to invite you to a Vajrasattva purification retreat overseen by Venberale Lhagon Rinpoche, Geshe Dhonye and Geshe Gyatso. The retreat will take place at the Catlins Retreat from Wednesday, December 11, at 7 PM until Sunday, December 15, at midday. It will feature intensive Vajrasattva practice and the recitation of the 100-syllable Vajrasattva mantra, with the option of taking the Eight Mahayana Precepts.

A donation of $240 is required to attend the retreat, which will cover vegetarian breakfasts, lunches, and refreshments for four days, as well as a contribution towards utility costs at the Catlins Retreat and a koha for the translator. Any surplus funds will be donated to the Catlins Retreat and the Dhargyey Buddhist Centre. All fees are waived for ordained sangha members. For those attending on Zoom, a contribution of $100 will be appreciated.
