VAPS VCE Forum - Unit 3

Each year VAPS runs VCE Forums for both Unit 3 and Unit 4.

Due to the current epidemic with COVID-19, the VAPS VCE Unit 3 Forum will be run wholly online. Details for access will be provided upon purchase.

Associate Professor Olivia Carter, Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of Melbourne will present on Consciousness & Neuroscience related to Descartes' Meditations & JJC Smart's Sensations & Brain Processes  

Dr Laura Schroeter, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Melbourne will present on The Hard Problem of Consciousness related to Nagel's What is it Like to be a Bat and Descartes' Meditations

Dr Klaus Jahn , Associate Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Melbourne will present on Personal Identity related to Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, Chapter 27, Hume's A Treatise on Human Nature Book 1 Part IV Section 6, and Michaels' (2016) Personal Identity.

VAPS will facilitate questioning of the speakers so that they can respond to the individual needs to students.

We are offer a ticket package for schools. Purchasing this enables the teacher and a whole class of students access (students do not have to purchase tickets individually). Please have your teacher/school purchase and distribute the information for access to students.
