Varroa and Hive Health Workshop | Kalgoorlie
Event description
Join us for a comprehensive workshop led by two of WA’s Varroa Development Officers from DPIRD, designed to prepare beekeepers for the potential arrival of Varroa mites in Western Australia. This session will cover essential hive management techniques, including maintaining overall hive health and practical skills for early Varroa detection.
You’ll learn about key hive health indicators, best practices for strong and resilient colonies, and the latest Varroa management strategies aligned with the National Varroa Mite Management Program. This knowledge will prepare you if Varroa is detected in your area.
Enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, and a light supper during the evening, with time set aside for networking with fellow beekeepers. Share experiences, build connections, and gain valuable insights in a relaxed and supportive environment.
This is a great opportunity to gain practical tips to safeguard your hives and contribute to the early detection efforts that are vital to protecting WA’s thriving beekeeping industry.
A hands-on practical session will be held the following morning to reinforce the skills and techniques covered during the workshop.
