This performance is presented as part of the VCA Master of Theatre (Writing) Festival 2026.

Written by Holland Brooks, Directed by Nina Mountford

One decisive night at the Frankston community baths uncovers the underbelly of neo-Nazism in suburban Melbourne. Larrikins is a scathingly contemporary investigation of Australia's far right, asking: In the face of unfathomable horror, can one person make a change?

Recent writing credits include Unnatural (Writer, TBRT, 2024), Poison Control (Writer, Elbow Room & Darebin Speakeasy, 2026). Acknowledgements

I would first like to extend my deepest thanks to Raimondo Cortese, Emily Sheehan, and Chris Mead for seeing the potential in my work and challenging me to go forever deeper. Thank you to Lily and Nina, whose tireless work on this project has allowed it to blossom beyond my wildest dreams. My thanks and endless love to Marli, for their unwavering kindness, patience, political steadfastness and unofficial couch-dramaturgy. Thank you, dearest reader of this program, for coming out today to hear this new work-in-progress. Finally, and most importantly, thank you to the comrades fighting to end capitalism, oppression and genocide at home and across the world, even when it feels insurmountable. We have a world to win.

PARKING

The City of Melbourne has changed the parking restrictions around the Southbank Campus. Parking control hours are now expanded to 7am–10pm, seven days per week, and are capped at three hours. A $2-per-hour fee after 7pm is also now in place. There is no change to the $4-per-hour peak rate between 7am–7pm. Parking inspectors are regularly in the area fining drivers who overstay their meter, so we encourage everyone to be aware and avoid an expensive fine.

ACCESSIBILITY

We are committed to making our events accessible and will accommodate requirements wherever possible. All venues at the Southbank campus are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us at fineartsmusic-tickets@unimelb.edu.au if you have any questions.
