Vegas 70 Cinema is back for Heritage Week!
Event description
Step back in time and relive the magic of cinema at the historic Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute theatre!
In December 1896, Ballarat audiences were first captivated by ‘moving pictures’ in the Mechanics’ Hall. Since then, this iconic venue has been home to the Britannia, Odeon, Vegas 70, and The Sturt cinemas. Now, we’re bringing back the beloved Vegas 70 to continue a 130-year tradition of film in Ballarat!
From rolling jaffas down the aisles to first dates (and first kisses!), generations of locals have shared unforgettable memories at the Vegas 70 cinema. This year’s screenings will include a Friday double feature of 1970s classics, and a Saturday morning family screening for a new generation of cinema lovers! Join us at the Ballaarat Heritage Festival and experience the magic of the Minerva Theatre where the love of cinema lives on!
