A Holiday Opera and Family Event for Children of All Ages

This holiday season, bring the whole family into the magical world of The Velveteen Rabbit, a classic tale of love, transformation, and friendship. Caroline Altman’s adaptation of Margery Williams’ beloved story introduces us to Rabbit, the wise old horse, Nana, and a host of toys as they navigate the joys and challenges of growing up. Told from the toys’ perspective, the opera explores what it means to be real—and whether being real is simply in the eye and heart of the beholder. Full of spirited music, comic antics, and heartfelt moments, this approximately 50-minute opera will spark the imagination of anyone who has ever loved a toy.

On Sunday, December 13, families are invited to celebrate The Velveteen Rabbit with a festive afternoon at the Taube Atrium Theater and Bryan Education Studio. The afternoon will begin with family activities including a craft corner and a Bunny Buffet lunch in the Bryan Education Studio. Families will then gather in the Taube Atrium Theater for a special performance of The Velveteen Rabbit. Following the performance, guests will enjoy a meet-and-greet with the performers, including opportunities for photos and autographs, along with cookies and holiday treats.
