    Event description

    A comprehensive lecture series on Living Green Wall Systems, featuring a diverse team of experts who will explore these systems from all angles. Our speakers include representatives from leading green wall and design companies, as well as specialists in environmental, economic, and social impacts. This lecture series aims to provide a holistic understanding of green wall systems, covering their design, implementation, market dynamics, environmental and economic benefits, and social impacts on urban health.

    Janine Saab & Ahmed Mehio – “Need for Green”
    Janine Saab (Executive Strategic Planner) and Ahmed Mehio (Acting Coordinator of Public Spaces Planning and Design) from Cumberland Council, will discuss the government’s approach to urban greening. They will share insights into current strategies, initiatives, and challenges in enhancing green spaces, highlighting the importance of urban greening for community well-being and climate resilience.

    Ozgur Gocer - 'Environmental and Economic Impacts of Green Wall Systems' 
    Ozgur Gocer will provide an in-depth analysis of the environmental and economic impacts of green wall systems. With a background in Building Physics, Ozgur will highlight the benefits of these systems for sustainability and cost-efficiency.

    Chris Allison - 'Market Dynamics and Challenges in the Green Wall Industry'
    Chris Allison is a leading expert in the green wall industry, representing CityForest. With extensive experience in designing and implementing green wall systems, Chris will share valuable insights into the current market, challenges, and innovative solutions in the field.

    Chris Fox - 'Designing for Integration: Green Walls and Facade Systems'
    Chris Fox is an architect at 'Studio Chris Fox' With a deep understanding of facade systems and their integration with green wall systems, Chris will discuss the concerns and considerations designers face when incorporating green walls into building projects.

    NSCA 2021 Performance Criteria for this event:
    PC 10: Understand the whole life carbon implications of procurement methods, materials, components and construction systems

    PC 31: Be able to identify, analyse and integrate information relevant to environmental sustainability – such as energy and water consumption, resources depletion, waste, embodied carbon and carbon emissions – over the lifecycle of a project.

    PC 39: Understand how the integration of material selection, structural and construction systems impacts on design outcomes.
