Vessels for Emotional Holding, with Louise Meuwissen
Sydney

Join artist Louise Meuwissen in exploring how we house our emotions, in a workshop celebrating craft-based artmaking as a generative and restorative practice for emotional wellbeing. This workshop celebrates the power of adornment, symbology, and personal expression.

Create your own soft sculpture, in the form of a small, lidded vessel for emotional holding, embellished with recycled vintage and contemporary beads and sequins from Louise’s collection.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Join artist Louise Meuwissen at a gorgeous private studio in Lindfield, Sydney, for a day celebrating adornment, colour, and personal expression.

In a joyous, relaxed and supportive environment, you will be introduced to Louise’s art practice and be guided through hand-sewing construction techniques and the principles of bead embroidery. We will explore couture beading techniques, lean into our personal aesthetic sensibilities, play with colour and form, and work with a thoughtfully curated selection of luxurious vintage materials; including glass and ceramic beads, pearls, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, velvets, silks, and other fossicked treasures from Louise's personal collection.

Whether you're completely new to creating with your hands, or already love making, you'll leave with a unique, precious object of beauty and sentiment. Participants with all levels of experience are welcome and encouraged. No prior sewing experience necessary; whatever your perceived sewing skill or creative ability, this class is for you.

Please note, this is an emotionally gentle workshop, for personal reflection, with no expectation of group sharing.

Includes a sumptuous morning tea, and snacks throughout. BYO lunch.
All materials and tools supplied.
If desired, please feel welcome to bring along your personal sewing kit, any special beads, fabrics or treasures you'd like to incorporate into your piece.

This is the debut of teaching this class in Sydney, and spaces are limited. It's going to be gorgeous. I can't wait to make with you. ✨
