Veteran Artist Meet-ups - Online
Description
ANVAM's Inaugural Online Arts Hangout: Everyone Welcome
Connecting our community across Australia (and overseas).
Join us for ANVAM's first ever online arts meet-up! A relaxed space to connect, share what you're creating (or enjoying), and help shape how our online events could work best for you in the future.
At ANVAM, we build supportive communities of Veteran Artists at all stages and in all mediums. Our goal is to bring members of the Veteran Community (current-serving, former-serving & family) together through creativity, so no one has to make art, or find their people, alone.
Come for as long or as little as suits you.
Pop in for ten minutes or stay for the whole session. Arrive late, leave early, no explanation needed. Your time is yours.
Cameras on would be wonderful, but there's no pressure.
Join however you feel comfortable, whether that's video, audio only, or just listening in and chatting by text.
This event is for you if you:
Have an interest in the arts, whether you're watching, doing, or cheering others on
Have wanted to attend FOVA but can't get to Melbourne
Have wanted to join an in-person artist meet-up but the timing didn't work, or you felt a bit shy
Are part of the Veteran Community: current-serving ADF, former-serving ADF & family
No experience, portfolio, or "artist" label required. Everyone is welcome.
We aren't capping numbers and we dare you to overwhelm us! Bring a friend, bring your cuppa, bring your work-in-progress (or nothing at all).

Veteran Artist Meet-Ups are relaxed, welcoming gatherings designed to bring people together in a supportive, creative environment. Hosted by ANVAM, they prioritise connection, conversation and community over formal outcomes.
For ANVAM, a veteran is defined as a current or former-serving Australian Defence Force member, as well as the family of current or former-serving members. You do not need to identify as a “Veteran Artist” to attend. These meet-ups are open to anyone from the Veteran Community who is creative, curious about art, or interested in connecting through shared experience.
Each meet-up is informal by design, but no two sessions are exactly the same. Some gatherings will centre around shared food and conversation, while others may include a light program such as an artist talk, creative activity, or guided tour. There is no expectation to present work or participate beyond what feels comfortable.
Whether actively practicing, returning to creativity, or simply exploring new interests, attendees are invited to come as they are and be part of a growing, veteran-led creative community.
