Description

Veterans Day honors a spirit of service and commitment to community for which we can all be proud. The Esplanade Association takes inspiration from this holiday in offering a day of service and community time in the park. This Veterans Day, we invite the community to join us for a family-friendly day of events, with acknowledgement to veteran Dr. Melvin Lederman, for whom Lederman Park within the Esplanade is named.

All are welcome to enjoy the park with lawn games and music at the field near Gronk Playground. Bring your family, friends, and four-legged friends for a day of fall fun!

We encourage participants to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sun protection. Pre-registration is highly recommended in order to receive timely updates. Please cancel if you can no longer attend.

Event Cancellation

In the event of extreme weather or other hazardous conditions, the Esplanade Association will email all participants and post a cancellation notice. Please follow our social media accounts Facebook page (@EsplanadeBoston) / Instagram (@EsplanadeInBoston) to keep up to date about potential cancellations.

Location Information & Directions

NOTE: There is NO PARKING on the Esplanade. Please plan to arrive via one of the options below:

WALKING
If entering by foot, you can take one of many footbridges to enter the park. They are all noted on this map. Gronk Playground is closest to the Blossom Street Footbridge or Charles River Dam Rd. The group will gather at the field outside the playground.

MBTA
Gronk Playground is a 4-minute walk from the Science Park/West End MBTA Station (Green Line) and a ten minute walk from the Charles / MGH MBTA Station (Red Line). Find all of the nearby stations on this map.

BLUE BIKES
Pick up a Bluebike at any station around Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville and return to a station located conveniently near Blossom Street Footbridge or the Museum of Science. Find locations on the System Map or mobile app.

PARKING (outside of park)
There is no parking on the Esplanade. Recommended parking locations include the Museum of Science Lot or Charles River Plaza.

RIDE SHARE
We recommend you direct rideshare vehicles to drop you off on the other end of the Blossom St footbridge at Blossom St x Charles St. Once you’ve been dropped off, enter the park on foot via the Blossom St Footbridge, which does have stairs. An at-grade entrance is available on Charles River Dam Rd; directing rideshare to drop you off at the Museum of Science is a good option.

The Esplanade Association is the community-supported nonprofit organization that works to revitalize and enhance the Charles River Esplanade, sustain its natural green space, and build community in the park by providing educational, cultural, and recreational programs for everyone. Working in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Esplanade Association is dedicated to improving the experiences of the millions of visitors who enjoy Boston’s iconic riverside park. Importantly, the Esplanade Association acknowledges that the 64 acres of its care were originally inhabited by the Massachusett, Wampanoag and Nipmuc peoples in what was the tidal Quinobequin River, now called the Charles River. Through its work, the Esplanade Association strives to honor, respect, and recognize the connection between this site and our local indigenous tribes’ and neighbors’ ongoing stewardship of these lands and waters.
