Volunteer Fairfax’s Volunteer Management Book Club I Said What I Said
Event description
What began as The Black Women in Nonprofit Leadership Cohort, the conversations became the inspiration for “I Said What I Said, an anthology of Black Women in Nonprofit.” The compilation of real experiences, insights and observations features 25 authors with 25 different backgrounds addressing the realities of leadership for all -- and black leadership in particular -- within the nonprofit sector. It covers challenges whether personal, professional or historic.
One author is fellow Volunteer Manager, Severina Ware, CVA, Volunteer Program Manager, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Dallas, Texas. Ms. Ware will join us for the discussion as we focus on lessons from the book with a concentration for those of us working as a Volunteer Engagement Leader.
The book is recommended for anyone who works in a nonprofit -- whether or not they are a Black woman. The book and the discussion is for anyone looking to become their own authentic leader (despite the odds), improve their career options or overcome personal and professional challenges.
Buy the book at your local book store or online retailer. Read, reflect and join us!
