Event description

Racial equity is pioneering work.
For our community to have the strength and stamina to eliminate racial disparities and grow a more inclusive community, it takes noticing, holding space, practicing accountability, and strengthening curiosity. For Volunteer Fairfax’s 2024 Community Conversation, we will look at the ways individuals and organizations can change policies, practices, systems and structures by prioritizing measurable change in the lives of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). This is a brave space providing time to center on key skills and competencies.
Join Natasha A. Harrison, Founder of CommunityBuild Ventures, is an award-winning racial equity and justice practitioner, as she shares practices and competencies that support a cultural transformation towards racial equity.
Following Ms. Harrison's presentation, we will include additional voices and conversation from our community:
  • Deron Campbell, MPH, Director of Health Equity and Community Health Programs, Inova Health Systems
    • Nathan Carter, PhD, serves as the Chief Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer (CDEIO) for Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA)
    • Briana Cleveland, MPS, Director of Volunteer Engagement, Martha's Table

The program will be moderated by Laila Salguero, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Peraton
