Event description

This event sees Viet Nam’s deputy foreign minister deliver an address and Q and A on his Government’s foreign policy. Viet Nam’s approach encapsulates a resilient but flexible approach to international relations in the context of strategic competition and security challenges in Asia. The address will include what this means for New Zealand, with 2025 marking 50 years of diplomatic relations the two countries. Viet Nam and New Zealand became strategic partners in 2020 and engage through ASEAN, APEC, and other multilateral fora, defence visits and training and strong economic and trade links.

Suzannah Jessep, Chief Executive of Asia New Zealand Foundation will Chair the event, with concluding remarks and a vote of thanks by James Kember, Chair of NZIIA. 

The event is organised by New Zealand Institute of International Affairs in collaboration with Asia New Zealand Foundation.
