Views and Waterfalls on Kangaroo Hill, Eldorado - Grade 4 (Medium/Hard)

The Warby Range Bushwalkers invites you to join them on a walk up Kangaroo Hill, Eldorado. This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.
Walking on bush tracks and gravel roads plus a short, steep, rough and rocky scramble over part of an eroded bush track enroute to the top of Kangaroo Hill for excellent views, then back down to a creek crossing. Waterfalls if there’s been enough rain.
DISTANCE: 14km Loop walk that will take 5-6hrs
WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? Suitable for experienced bushwalkers. A medium to hard loop walk of approx. 14k mostly along gravel roads and bush tracks with some moderate ascending and descending. There is a short, steep, rough and rocky scramble over part of an eroded bush track enroute to the top of Kangaroo Hill, then back down to a creek crossing.
CHILDREN AND PETS: This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home. Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.
AWT GRADE 4 (Medium) - Bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited. AWT Grade information.
PACE: The pace will be determined by the attendees, generally around 3 to 4kph. There are interest points along the route, a morning tea break at a waterfall (if running) and lunch atop Kangaroo Hill. After lunch we descend Kangaroo Hill and have a creek crossing before returning to Eldorado township.
TOTAL ASCENT: Moderate hills and a short, steep, rough and rocky scramble over an eroded bush track. Eldorado approx. 200m elevation, to approx. 330m at Lonies Gap Rd, then back down to 200m before reaching to 230m at the base of Kangaroo Hill. Kangaroo Hill approx. 370m. Creek crossing at approx. 185m elevation.

We will carpool the 23km from the meeting point to our walk start point at Gunhouse Park, Eldorado.
CARPOOLING: We will meet at Rotary Park in Wangaratta, and carpool from there. Carpool cost $4.50 per passenger, payable in cash to driver.
PHONE SIGNAL: Subject to your provider you may or may not have mobile service.
TOILETS: At Rotary Park,Wangaratta (meeting point), at Gunhouse Park, Eldorado (start/finish of walk). No toilet facilities during the walk. Plenty of bush for a bush pee.
WHAT TO BRING

- Spare footwear suitable for a creek crossing
- Small towel to dry feet
- Hiking poles
- Personal first aid kit (your health is your responsibility)
