Preparing for phylloxera is a shared responsibility, and your participation is vital to ensuring South Australia is ready to respond effectively. This exercise is designed to bring our grape and wine industry together from across South Australia, including grape growers, vineyard managers, winemakers, contractors, consultants, grapevine nurseries, and industry representatives.
Vinehealth Australia will be joined by experts from PIRSA (including the Chief Plant Health Officer for SA) and Plant Health Australia, and facilitator Christina Cook, to run these exercises in 3 different regions, and provide you with important updates on changes to the South Australian Phylloxera Management Plan, and what it would mean in practice for your region in the event of a phylloxera outbreak.
The preparedness exercise will focus on how South Australia would respond to a phylloxera detection, testing roles, responsibilities, decision‑making and coordination across the biosecurity system, and identifying opportunities to strengthen readiness before an incident occurs.
This is a must-attend event to prepare yourself and your business for what would happen in the event of a phylloxera outbreak.
