Vinous Vineyard Map of The Rocks: Preview Event
Event description
Join Eric Guido, Vinous' critic for Oregon and Washington, on Friday, July 25th at 1pm at Watermill Winery in Milton-Freewater for a preview of a draft of the vineyard map of The Rocks, and a panel discussion featuring David Wanek (Cimento), Christophe Baron (Bionic Wines) and Steve Robertson (Delmas).
Vinous Maps are the result of many years of visiting wine regions and observing the land with the ultimate goal of gaining a deeper understanding of how the essence of site is ultimately reflected in the glass. Created through extensive proprietary research and boots-on-the-ground work, Vinous’ Maps show the boundaries of each vineyard site within its respective region.
To date, Vinous has mapped eight regions within Napa Valley, much of Sonoma, and Santa Lucia Highlands and Sta. Rita Hills in California's central coast. The latest map represents the first foray outside California:
The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA (usually known as "The Rocks") is a fascinating winemaking region situated on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley AVA and defined by a single, distinct soil series that sits between the low foothills of the Blue Mountains and the Walla Walla River.
Register for the complimentary event on Friday, July 25th and learn about the region's nuances, as told through the new Vinous vineyard map, and meet three of the most respected and influential vineyard proprietors, who have helped shape The Rocks into the region it is today.
