Course Outline:

This practical workshop provides participants with an understanding of the range of investigations that may be undertaken to assist with complex case management activities and decisions. Topics include:

  • Medical investigations including Independent Medical Examiners, Injury Management Consultants and other Independent Consultants such as Independent Physiotherapy Consultants
  • Factual investigations
  • Surveillance

We'll also hear from expert speakers Timothy Ashton - Director,  Henty's Lawyers,  and Tass Vassiliou - Executive General Manager, Precise Investigations as they share their knowledge, experience and strategies to help employers prepare themselves and injured workers for investigations.

Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of this course, participants will have an understanding of the different types of investigations that can be used throughout the life of the claim, what they are used for, and any special considerations for using them. Participants will also have an understanding of what employers can do to get the most out of the investigation, as well as how to support injured workers to prepare for medical examinations.

Who should attend this course?
This course is recommended for Return to Work Coordinators specifically working in personal injury management.

About the Trainer: Meg Hansson - Learning & Development Specialist, EML
Meg has worked in workers’ compensation, return to work and occupational health and safety for over 20 years. During this time Meg has applied her skills, knowledge and experience in a range of roles including as a trainer and facilitator, learning designer, advisor, Mental Health and WHS Specialist. Meg has extensive experience interpreting legislation and is passionate about helping learners achieve their career and study goals.

Meg holds a Diploma of Workplace Health and Safety, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Fitness and a Diploma of Human Resources.

With over 24 years experience in the insurance, workers compensation and broader claims management and investigations industry, Tass has developed a diverse set of skills and range of expertise across both the private and public sector. This includes over 10 years in middle and senior management roles that have been punctuated with successful start up and large scale business transitions, establishing strong client partnerships through collaborative business improvement solutions, developing talented professionals and driving performance and strategic outcomes.
