2025 Western Australian Schools' Constitutional Convention - Virtual Attendance for Regional Schools
Event description
Year 11 Politics and Law students from across Western Australia are invited to take part in the annual Western Australian Schools’ Constitutional Convention, hosted by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet of WA.
This year’s Convention will investigate the topic of the Governor-General, including their role and accountability in Australia’s contemporary democratic system.
During this free event, students will hear from key academic and industry experts on the significance of accountability in our political system. Students will complete workshop activities designed to encourage reflection and engagement with the key themes of the day; and work collaboratively with peers to develop their own perspective on accountability in high public office.
When registering, we ask that you enter the details of the supervising teacher(s), as well as the details of any students you are nominating to attend. Fostering a safe and accountable learning environment is vital for this event, and we look forward to discussing this with you at the pre-event check-in for virtual attendees.
To support your excursion management planning, Working with Children Check, Certificate of Currency, and Emergency Management information will be emailed to you upon registration.
Background papers will be emailed once registrations close to allow students time to become familiar with the topics explored on the day.
Registrations close at 5:00pm Friday, 29th August 2025, or once capacity has been reached.
