Virtual Workshop: Supportive Parenting through Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
Event description
Does your child struggle remain asleep in their own room due to anxiety? Does your child make their world small because of anxiety at trying new experiences? Join us for an introduction to the Supportive Parenting Through Anxious Childhood Emotions (S.P.A.C.E.) program. S.P.A.C.E. was developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center and is evidence-based to reduce child anxiety. The twist? The work is coaching parents on how to respond to their children to reduce their anxiety.
Parents who participate in SPACE will learn skills and tools to help their child overcome anxiety, OCD or related problems. The treatment focuses on changes that parents can make to their own behavior, they do not need to make their child change. S.P.A.C.E. averages about 4 sessions with parents before individual work with the child begins. Danielle Marino, LCSW, of SuperKids Chicago will be giving an introduction and overview of the SPACE program and principles.
