At some point, many Autistic children start to wonder about their differences and ask big questions like “Why am I different?” or “Why me?” These moments can catch parents off guard, but they can also become turning points for understanding, pride, and connection.

This session is about finding the words for those tender conversations. We’ll share ways to respond with honesty and care, helping your child understand that being different doesn’t make them less, it makes them themselves, and that’s something to be proud of.

In this peer group we’ll explore:
• How to respond to “why me?” questions with warmth and understanding
• Ways to talk about difference that build pride and belonging
• Everyday strategies to help children feel loved, accepted, and confident in who they are

This group is facilitated by Kristy

Kristy is a proud mum to Dash, who is Autistic and has ADHD, just like his mum. She’s passionate about connecting with other families and celebrating neurodivergent joy and all the strengths that come with thinking differently.

Parents and carers of Autistic and neurodivergent children 8+ years, including those who are exploring or awaiting a diagnosis.
