    Event description

The inaugural Victorian International Student Conference (VISC) 2018 is hosted by the Australian Federation of International Students Inc. (AFIS) and focuses on priorities of the Council for International Education, National Strategy for International Education 2025, and Victorian International Education Sector Strategy. VISC aims to bring together international students and staff members engaged in international student services from Universities, TAFE and VET under one roof.

    The expected outcomes are:

    • Better student experience
    • Increased student engagement
    • Awareness of mental health issues and well-being
    • Minimizing workplace exploitation
    • Sustainability in leadership

    Tickets include:

    • Attendance for both Conference Days
    • All Sessions and Workshops
    • Morning Tea / Lunch / Afternoon Tea
    • Networking Sessions
    • Multi-cultural Presentation

The schedule of VISC features Keynotes, Presentations, Workshops, Panel discussions and Exhibition and information sessions - all focused towards the best practices in the sector. This would be a good event for students to attend and provides them with an opportunity to increase their awareness of issues such as workplace exploitation, accommodation and the support services on offer for those issues. Cultural representation at the end of each day will enable students to understand about other cultures and break communication barriers and stereotypes. The breakout sessions also feature topics such as start-ups, taxation, work safety and community building. Students also get to meet and interact with experts from the industry and discuss any concerns through this forum.

    Note:

    • Tickets are priced at $100 for Students and $350 for Industry delegates and are non-refundable
