VISIBILITY CO + ANDREA MCNAMARA - BOOK PUBLISHING 101 MASTERCLASS, AUGUST 2022
Event description
Do you have a story you're burning to tell?
Have you been told that you should write a book?
Are you part or fully through writing a manuscript but aren't sure what to do next?
Do you have a secret desire to write a book but are too scared to voice that, let alone know where to start?
Are you curious about what publishing a book could do for your impact or thought leadership?
Introducing Book Publishing 101, a masterclass co-hosted by Visibility Co and Andrea McNamara, on
Wednesday 24 August. A former publisher with Penguin Random House and Allen & Unwin, Andrea now works as a
consultant. She collaborates with many of the publishing houses, and helps would-be authors take their stories out
into the world.
She is the hidden hand and brain behind a huge range of many of Australia's most popular nonfiction books, including Scott
Pape - better known as the Barefoot Investor; bestselling
memoirs from Jim Stynes, Neal Daniher, Alannah Hill and Father Bob Maguire, and current bestseller Yiayia Next Door Cookbook, a
celebration of the power of community by the Insta-famous sons of domestic violence victim Teresa Mancuso.
This short but powerful and affordable session is designed to help you save time, energy and money but taking you through the fundamentals of becoming a published author.
We will help you to:
- understand whether book publishing is the right avenue for you
- get a sense of whether your idea or story is one that publishers would go for
- see the power of being strategic - understanding who your audiences are and how you're seeking to help them
- find out how to go about crafting a pitch that no publisher can refuse
- get the inside word on editing, revising and publicity - the realities versus the romance
- see ways to build your voice and credibility so that audiences - and publishers - will be able to see that you, and only you, are the right person for writing this book
- see beyond publication to ensuring your book has the impact it deserves
When: Wednesday 24th August 2022
