VMIAC Lunch & Learn: What’s at stake at the election
Series Intro
Our Lunch & Learn Series gives VMIAC members opportunities to come together online to connect with our community and learn more about the work we do.
Description
At our November Lunch & Learn, we’ll explore the upcoming Victorian election, what different election commitments could mean for people with mental health challenges, and the power of community action.
This session will include two presentations. One by our special guest Adam Knobel, Deputy CEO at Australian Progress. The other by our CEO, Vrinda Eden, and our Policy Lead, Bec Rudd.
Part 1: The power of community in uncertain times
With the Victorian election approaching, Adam will talk about what’s at stake this election, the issues we care about, and why coming together now matters more than ever.
Drawing on two decades of community campaigning across Australia and overseas, Adam will share examples of people working together through challenging political moments to highlight ways communities can create change. He’ll also share a range of practical ways you can get involved before and after the election.
Part 2: Election commitments and what they could mean for our community
Vrinda and Bec will explore the key policies and commitments being made by the political parties in the run up to the November election. They’ll examine what they parties are promising on mental health, and what it could mean for our community.
Each presentation will run for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A where you can ask questions, share reflections, and continue the conversation.
Please note: This session will be held online via Zoom and will be recorded.
We hope to see you there!
