Event description

Come and join VNPA's new Youth Team (18-35 year olds) to participate in the biggest citizen-science event on Victoria’s marine calendar, the Great Victorian Fish Count.

We are inviting young adults to discover the fascinating seascape at Point Gellibrand Rockpools in Williamstown.

You will have the opportunity to learn the basics of snorkelling and record the fish species in the area using a dive slate. This valuable data will then be uploaded to the Atlas of Living Australia to improve our understanding of Victoria’s marine species in the long term.

On the day, everyone will be guided by the expert team of Dive2U. They will provide all the equipment, so all you need to bring is yourself, your bathers and towel and enough sense of adventure and wonder to become a marine scientist for the day!

After the survey, we will share some chips on the beach.

Once you have confirmed your attendance, keep an eye on your inbox for details of the exact meeting location and medical forms that you will need to fill in before the event.

This activity is organised by the VNPA Youth Team, an emerging initiative within the VNPA that seeks to connect and empower more young adults in the protection of nature.

We’d love you to join us!

Registration via Humanitix is essential.
