Voice to Parliament Community Forum
Event description
Waverley Council invites the community to come and learn more about the upcoming referendum to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people through a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament.
This will be an interactive event with a panel of special guests providing information and answering questions. Special guests include,
Eddie Synot; First Nations lawyer and researcher, who has been working with the Uluru Dialogue team since 2018, Ruby Langton-Batty; First Nations lawyer and Biennale Sydney board member and Craig Foster; NSW Australian of the year 2023, human rights activist, author and former Socceroo.
The Voice to Parliament Referendum is a crucial vote that will determine whether an Indigenous Advisory Body will be enshrined in the Australian Constitution, to provide a platform for First Nations peoples to have a say on issues that affect them.
Join this National conversation and take part in Waverley’s community forum that will be held on Wednesday 10 May, at 6:30 pm at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre. It will also be streamed online for anyone unable to make it in person.
