ABOUT VOICES CO.

Voices Co. is NZ's home of Pop A Cappella, re-inventing 'Choir' like you've never heard it before; creating every note, beat, and sound using only the voice!

We sing current pop songs, giving them our own twist, and crafting them in a collaborative way that celebrates every voice in the room. It's a bit of a Thursday afternoon obsession, and we get a real kick out of finding new members to share the magic with!

ABOUT OPEN DAY:

Open Day is a one-off free event, but seats are strictly limited, and bookings are essential. Click to book your spot (why not bring a friend or two, and make a day of it!)

WHAT TO EXPECT:

This 45min session will kick off with some fun vocal warm-ups (vocal and body!), a quick break-down of how to follow-along with the music session (and nope, you don't need to be able to read music!), and some quick musical chairs to find the best section to sing with (high, middle, low).

Once that's all sorted, we'll get stuck into some part-learning, some harmonies (for those who feel up to the challenge), and even a wee bit of BeatBoxing or Body Percussion (aka. clapping, clicking, and generally making a bit of a racket!) We're definitely NOT all work and no play - we include a bunch of games and music activities to keep young singers engaged, and we take time at the end of every session to do a shout out to a few superstar team players of the day!

COOL, I'M IN... WHAT NEXT?

We run a bunch of different Open and Auditioned Pop A Cappella choirs; adult groups are on Mondays, kids/junior groups are on Thursdays.

We have intakes each term for our open programme + a big showcase/concert in July and Dec. We also have 3 smaller auditioned Vocal Squads, and we cast these via auditions twice a year (Feb / July).
