Voices Forum: Children in Scotland's Additional Support for Learning Policy Briefing
Event description
Key Learnings:
With Children in Scotland staff, explore the key issues related to school attendance among pupils and families who contacted our helpline service and how support could be better delivered to address these issues.
Consider the next steps that current policy approaches could take to ensure pupils with additional support needs in Scotland can access an education that supports their personal development.
This training is aimed at Policy and communications professionals.
This Voices Forum session will provide members with an opportunity to explore Children in Scotland's new Additional Support for Learning Policy briefing on school attendance. The briefing is based on evidence from our helpline and explores some of the key issues related to school attendance and the delivery of additional support for learning. It also considers some of the next steps for current policy approaches to help ensure pupils with additional support needs can access an education that supports their personal development.
The session will allow members to discuss findings, consider how they relate to their own organisation's work and share examples of positive practice in relation to improving access to education for pupils with additional support needs. We will also hear input from staff members delivering Children in Scotland's services who will share how they work with children and young people to highlight their lived experience of additional support for learning.
