Event description

Join us for Voices of Healing, a heartwarming event designed to uplift and connect Spanish and Portuguese-speaking immigrants, and people from any background, through the power of song, rhythm, and community.

In this joyful, choir-like gathering, we’ll explore Latin American cultural traditions through voice, movement, and shared food. Together, we’ll celebrate wellbeing, belonging, and human connection in a welcoming and accessible space.

What to Expect:

  • Group voice and body warm-up

  • Guided rhythmic movement inspired by Latin beats

  • Singing simple, soulful Latin American songs

  • Time to connect over delicious food (afternoon tea)

  • Informal singing and socialising in a warm, supportive atmosphere

Whether you love to sing, dance, or simply want to feel part of a community, this 2-hour event will leave you energised and connected.

About the Latin Choir Brisbane

The Latin Choir Brisbane is a community choir that unites people from diverse backgrounds with a shared passion for Latin American music, culture, and traditions. The choir started in 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, to support and connect people through music. Our mission is to bring and share the elements that connect us to our essence, with music at the forefront! We sing in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. We value our community and connection to our origins and ancestors as much as the land and people who have received us in Australia.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Latin Choir Brisbane acknowledges the Turrbal and Yuggera people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather and create music. We pay our respects to their Elders, those who have passed into the dreaming; those here today; those of tomorrow. As we sing and share our love for Latin American culture, we extend our gratitude to the First Nations people for their wisdom, their stewardship of the land, and their resilience in the face of adversity. We commit to listening, learning, and working together to build a future that respects and values the diverse cultures that make up this beautiful land.
