Event description

Join us for a 'taste of spice' afternoon tea together with singing and storytelling to raise funds so that young girls in Afghanistan can continue their education.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2022, girls and women in Afghanistan have had their freedom, safety and rights stripped away.

Girls in Afghanistan dream the same dreams as all young girls. But once they turn 12, they are banned from school and university - despite education being a universal human right.

Voices of Hope is a sponsor-a-teacher program supported by women of Trentham to help fund tutors so that young girls in Afghanistan can continue life-changing education.

Be part of this special day, with guests and performances by:

  • Lida Hazara Nayeeb - Founder, Women For Change speaking about the role of education in supporting girls in Afghanistan

  • Hamida Samar - Voices of Hope and the Trentham Singing Circle performing Peace

  • Muzafar Ali - Cisarua Learning - arriving in Trentham on his 4000km ride from Maleny, Qld to Adelaide, SA in June to raise awareness for the vital role of education in building futures for refugees
