ABOUT THE CITIZENS' INQUIRY INTO THE HEALTH OF THE BARKA/DARLING RIVER AND MENINDEE LAKES

The Citizens’ Inquiry into the Health of the Barka/Darling River and Menindee Lakes enabled communities to have a fair, unbiased forum to share their stories and evidence about what’s happening to the Darling River system. The Final Report is 230 pages long, and includes hundreds of community comments about the problems they're facing, and the solutions that need to be put in place to save the Barka/Darling River and Menindee Lakes, and all the human and non-human communities dependent on this unique, precious living system.

The Citizens’ Inquiry was created by the Australian Peoples' Tribunal for Community and Nature's Rights (APT).  The APT is an independent, non-government, civil society initiative, created and managed by community leaders, environmental and human rights lawyers and First Nations Elders, who are volunteering their time to support communities affected by the declining health of the Darling River and Menindee Lakes.
