Volunteer Tree Planting & Brushpacks
Event description
Join Mulloon Institute in rehabilitating and rehydrating the Molonglo catchment at Captains Flat in the NSW Southern Tablelands and transform the landscape into a healthy vibrant ecosystem that captures flood sediments, cycles nutrients and provides valuable habitat for the nationally endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog.
Get hands-on while learning how to apply simple strategies for erosion control with tree planting and natural infrastructure with brushpacks and rock weirs.
This project is part of the Molonglo Catchment Rehydration Initiative (MCRI) that spans two properties on the upper Molonglo River floodplain.
Targeted interventions, including instream structures and floodplain earthworks have been implemented to restore the natural function of the landscape.
Mulloon Institute is a leading research and education organisation helping to build resilient regional communities by supporting the long-term, sustainable growth of Australian agriculture
Funding to complete Stage 2 of the project has been provided by the landholder, Mulloon Institute, and NSW Environmental Trust.
