Volunteers needed at creative workshops for refugee children

Who we are
RefugeesCode Melbourne a refugee-oriented inclusive group and our focus is on both coding as a career and the creative side of coding.
Our goal is to help refugees, asylum seekers and people from other marginalised groups progress their career in tech, as well as creating a community where we come together and write code as a creative activity.

Open Roles
Updates: Software dev program mentor positions filled, we are still looking for kids workshop volunteers and BD/marketing folks
Kids workshop Facilitators
- Current term runs from 22nd Feb to 29th March
- Working with children check
- We are teaching Scratch, you don’t need to know how to code, you can learn along with the kids
- Passion to work with kids around 8 to 12 year old
- Can commit to fortnightly sessions in Springvale (Saturdays 10am - 12pm during school terms, close to PT)
Software Dev Program Mentors (Filled)
- You will be paired up with 1 or 2 aspiring software devs at various level of coding experience
- Available online to answer questions during the week (not all the time, you can set an hour of open question time and it will help unstuck people in their learning)
- Can commit to most of the weekly sessions in the CBD from March to end of June (Saturdays 2 - 5 pm)
Marketing wizard
- Help us build our social presence so we can reach more people, collaborate with more orgs and be more helpful to people we serve
- You will lead our marketing effort and work closely with our designer
Business development wizard
- Help us talk to community groups so we can reach more people and collaborate with them
- As well as the corporates so we can partner with them to build employment pathways
