WA Trails & Recreation Forum 2021: Recovery, Resilience and Recreation

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The number of people enjoying Western Australia’s trails has exploded over the past 18 months.

Recreating on trails addresses many of the challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic – it builds resilience, creates jobs and diversifies economies. This has resulted in a record level of investment in trails by the State Government, delivered across WA as viable recovery initiatives.

To maintain the growing momentum and appetite for outdoor recreation experiences, WA needs a resilient workforce, strong research to underpin strategic planning, genuine connections with Aboriginal communities and heritage, empowered organisations, synergy across all levels of government, informed land managers and best practice trail planning and construction.

The 2021 WA Trails and Recreation Forum will showcase the major trails projects underway in the Great Southern region, bringing presenters from across the State to inform and educate you on a wide range of topics, including trail planning and building, trails as a recovery tool, international and local case studies, the economics of trails, Aboriginal tourism and more.

There will be opportunities to network with other key industry stakeholders throughout the forum, including at a sundowner hosted by the City of Albany.

This event will book out quickly so don’t delay your registration. For any queries regarding the 2021 Trails and Recreation Forum please get in touch at trails@dlgsc.wa.gov.au
