Membership Application
This application will be presented at the next committee meeting.
Woolgoolga Art Group Inc is a volunteer-run, self-funded community gallery.
Membership supports the day-to-day running of the Gallery and creates opportunities to exhibit and sell work.
Membership Categories
Friends of the Gallery
Friends of the Gallery membership is for people who wish to support and stay connected with the gallery community without participating as exhibiting or active working members.
Friends of the Gallery members receive:
Monthly email newsletter
Invitations and discounted tickets to selected opening nights and special events
Access to free gallery social events and gatherings
Opportunities to assist with exhibition openings and gallery events if desired
Friends of the Gallery membership does not include:
Voting rights at General Meetings or eligibility to hold committee positions
Eligibility to exhibit artwork in gallery exhibitions
Eligibility to place items for sale in the gallery shop
Participation in member roster desk duty
Participation in scheduled social art-making sessions
Use of gallery studio or workshop spaces
Member commission or exhibiting benefits
Members
Gallery membership is for active participants in the gallery community and provides access to creative, exhibition and studio opportunities.
Members receive:
Monthly email newsletter
Invitations to gallery openings and events
Access to free social events and gatherings
Participation in scheduled social art-making sessions
Access to studio/workshop spaces, subject to availability and gallery conditions
Eligibility to exhibit in member exhibitions, subject to gallery policies and selection processes
Eligibility to place approved items for sale in the gallery shop
Opportunity to access reduced gallery sales commission rates once membership participation conditions are met
Opportunities to contribute to the running and development of a community gallery
Access to volunteer and gallery participation opportunities
Additional requirements may apply for exhibiting members, including desk duty commitments, participation requirements and commission arrangements.
Concession Member (Pensioner or Student)
• Must hold a valid concession or student card
• Same rights and responsibilities as Ordinary Members
Exhibiting and Commission Calculation
Members are encouraged to enter artworks into exhibitions and contribute items to the retail area. Commission is payable on any item sold.
Member Status (Active / Non-Active)
Active Members
Complete 4 rostered gallery duty shifts (3 hours each) in each half of the financial year:
1 July – 31 December
1 January – 30 June
Pay 25% commission on sales.
Non-Active Members
Do not complete the required shifts within a half financial year period.
Pay 40% commission on sales.
Commission Calculation
The number of completed Member Gallery duty shifts is reviewed at the end of each half financial year, with commission rates applying for the following six months from 1 January or 1 July respectively.
Member Participation Flexibility
We recognise that members’ circumstances change over time.
Members aged 85 and over are not expected to undertake rostered gallery duty.
Members experiencing health or capacity challenges are encouraged to speak with the Committee. Where appropriate, alternative arrangements or exemptions may be agreed.
Member Benefits
All Members receive:
Discounted exhibition entry fees
Discounted opening night tickets and selected events
Free to exhibit 2 artworks at a time in the Members Gallery
Free to contribute items for sale in the retail shop
Conditions of Membership
Artwork may be exhibited for sale subject to Gallery conditions
All work is displayed at the owner’s risk
Commission applies based on member participation (25% / 40%)
Members may attend and vote at General Meetings
Members agree to support Gallery operations where required
Artwork may be photographed for promotion
Members agree to abide by Gallery rules and policies
Abide by the Code of Conduct
Membership runs from 1 July to 30 June, with renewals due annually.
The Gallery is a not-for-profit organisation. GST responsibilities remain with the artist.
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
