Event description

Gypsy Jazz Guitar

Margaret River CWA Hall, 42 Townview Tce

Presented by: Lachlan Gear & Aaron Deacon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this workshop we will cover some of the fundamentals of the Gypsy jazz guitar style created by Django Reinhardt. These will include La Pompe (the pump - the most integral part of the Gypsy jazz style of rhythm playing), Gypsy picking - (how Gypsy jazz players utilise the plectrum to play so fast and loud), plus some classic Gypsy licks and patterns. All of this applied to the most famous of Gypsy jazz tunes - Minor Swing.

The workshop is suitable for beginners through to intermediate levels however some experience in playing some sort of guitar will be beneficial.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the event. We recommend festival-goers attend this session from start to finish. Bring your instrument and a plectrum, though observers are also welcome!
