Wagin 2025 Wheatbelt Planting Day - POSTPONED UNTIL 2026
Event description
Come and join us for a day of planting in Wagin!
The Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, has been heavily degraded by extensive bushland clearing and unsustainable agricultural practices, with only 5-10% of native vegetation remaining. The lasting patches of vegetation, regarded as one of Australia’s fifteen national biodiversity hotspots, are severely isolated from one another, resulting in low species/ community/ ecosystem resilience and rapid soil salinization.
This 58ha restoration project aims to form a habitat corridor joining the Gundaring Lake to the Parkeyerring Nature Reserves, contributing to climate change mitigation, native species conservation and increased soil health.
Camping won’t be available on site but can be booked individually at the Wagin Caravan Park, Showgrounds and Omdurman Nature Nook (5 minutes from site).
