During our Taking Action Hour, you’ll have the chance to meet and chat with local environmental groups, Council staff, and others working hard to protect freshwater in the Upper Clutha. We’re excited to welcome Dame Carolyn Burns for a powerful opening plenary, followed by engaging sessions that explore global freshwater challenges and new ways of thinking. Hear from the University of Otago’s Freshwater Chair as they share insights on lakes as living systems that connect people and nature. Plus, don’t miss our rapid-fire research showcase—where emerging scientists will present their latest discoveries in a fun, fast-paced format! The afternoon features a collaborative session on valuing nature and freshwater ecosystem services, bringing together local, regional, and academic voices in discussion.
