Waiata in the Woolshed: In Conversation with Emma Maurice
Event description
Welcome to Waiata in the Woolshed: In Conversation with Emma Maurice and Guests
Sunday 16 February 1:30-4:35 PM at Peel Forest
Join us on February 16th, 2025, to meet Dr Emma Maurice, who will draw from her research on a century of Ngāi Tahu, the power of historical narratives and their potential to influence our day-to-day lives.
Enjoy the charm of a working woolshed at Peel Forest, where Emma will be joined by author Jeffrey Paparoa Holman, countertenor Austin Haynes, 2025 Emerging Māori Writer in Residence at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University Pounamu Jade Aikman, and our waiata ensemble, Wāhine on Toa from Timaru.
You, our audience, will be invited to share stories/songs you remember growing up with. We will be entertained with waiata by Wāhine on Toa, and our special guest, Austin Haynes. We are honoured that our MC will be Anah Aikman.
