Book launch: "Philosophical Ordering by Country" with Mary Graham and Morgan Brigg

Join us for a very special Waijin Webinar, as we launch an important new book by Dr Mary Graham and Dr Morgan Brigg.

'Politics - Philosophical Ordering by Country', is part of the First Knowledges Series. In this book, Mary Graham and Morgan Brigg interrogate and unpack two political systems - cultural and colonial - that appear to be at opposite ends of a continuum. 

Politics is about how these two systems can move together and, in these unpredictable times, help to guide the building of a modern Australia.

About the 'First Knowledges Book Series': Each book is a collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous writers and editors; the series is edited by Margo Neale, senior Indigenous curator at the National Museum of Australia.

Dr Mary Graham

Dr Mary Graham is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of Queensland. She grew up in South-East Queensland, and is a Kombu-merri person through her father’s heritage and a Wakka Wakka clan through her mother’s heritage. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Mary has worked across several government agencies, community organisations and universities. Mary has been a dedicated lecturer with the University of Queensland, teaching Aboriginal history, politics and comparative philosophy. Mary has written and published many prominent works, including – publications in the Aboriginal Encyclopaedia, training modules for Cross Cultural Awareness and a host of academic papers. Dr Morgan Brigg

Professor Morgan Brigg is Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and a mediator and conflict resolution specialist at the School of Political Science and International Studies, The University of Queensland. His research develops ideas of relationism that emphasise the dynamic and interconnected political life among people, cultures and nations.

Dr Michelle Maloney

Michelle Maloney is the National Convenor of the Australian Earth Laws Alliance (AELA) and works with Mary Graham on a range of projects, including supporting the development of the Waijin Research Hub. Michelle is a non-Indigenous Australian and her work focuses on Earth laws, Earth jurisprudence, Rights of Nature, Indigenous First Laws, Bioregional and local governance, and decolonising knowledge and practice.
