Waikato Creative Symposium
Event description
He waka eke noa - We are all in this together
A one-day creative symposium and opportunity for creatives from Hamilton and the wider Waikato region to come together and hear from expert panellists in the fields of equity, sustainability and storytelling.
Find out about the panellists here.
Topics will include:
Panel 1: Treatment of creatives:
Fair treatment of creatives is an important topic, but one that isn’t discussed in our sector very often. Our panellists are from leading creative organisations, whose role it is to advocate and enable sustainable careers for our artists.
Panel 2: Creative collaboration:
Creatives have always been able to think outside the box when it comes to creating and getting their work out. However, there are many benefits for creatives and the sector as a whole when we work together.
Whether the goals are to foster sustainable careers, secure funding or advocate on national issues affecting the sector, there are benefits in identifying collective opportunities. Collaboration can also mean working together to understand issues across the sector as well as social impact and measurement.
Panel 3: Storytelling & building an audience:
We are constantly exposed to different media every day. In a world that is saturated with information, how can we, as creatives, cut through all this noise? Storytelling and building your audience is a big component of how you communicate what you do to others.
