Event description

Welcome to Waimakariri Silver Tent.

I believe that women need to sit in circle, not because we need healing, for we are perfect as we are, but because we need replenishment. Women need to go deep. Sitting in circle nourishes the soul, the heart and the spirit.

Our Silver Tent is a part of the Red Tent Aotearoa community, we are dedicated to supporting women transitioning through menopause, embracing their Crone years, and stepping into their roles as community elders. While the Red Tent traditionally gathers near the new moon each month, the Silver Tent aligns its meetings with the Sabbaths of the Wheel of the Year, creating a space for reflection, connection, and celebration during these sacred times.

Each Red/Silver Tent is a unique reflection of the community of women who create it. But these varied spaces share some things in common: The longing for connection and belonging, The sharing of how we are feeling and who we are in our lives. The nourishment of ourselves and each other The slowing down, the rest, the replenishment The simple act of sharing time and space with a group of women The opportunity to let go of the other responsibilities in our lives.

When women come together, magic happens.

We know this to be true from our own experiences. And we have also seen that something else happens too when these communities grow: they can become a beacon to others. Full of inspiration and practical learning, along with questions and practices to support and stimulate discussion about some of the challenges we all face in our lives.

The Waimakariri Silver Tent welcomes all women—Maiden, Mother, Queen-ager, or Crone—and anyone who identifies as a woman. Together, we sit in circles, share our journeys, build connections, and celebrate the seasons in Aotearoa.

Each event will have a focus on the Sabbat with our first one being Lammas

Lammas

Southern Hemisphere Date: February 1
Northern Hemisphere Date: August 1
Also known as: Lughnasadh, August Eve, and the Feast of Bread
Celebrated as: a time of the first harvest, when the grains and fruits of the earth are beginning to ripen and are ready to be gathered

The sabbat of Lammas, celebrated around February 1st, is the first of the three harvest festivals in the Wheel of the Year. It marks the midpoint between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox and is associated with the first fruits of the harvest and the sacrifice of the God. Lammas is a time to give thanks for the blessings of the earth and to honour the cycles of life and death. It is a time to celebrate abundance, to bake bread, and to share the fruits of the harvest with other women.

We will have space to discuss what we would like to see for the Waimakariri Silver Tent.

About Red Tent Aotearoa-
"What women want is CONNECTION. Not on a superficial level, but a REAL connection and support." ~Jill Natalia (RTA founder)The Red Tent is a place for women to feel that connection and to offer and receive that support.
We want to help women to free themselves from the isolation of today’s modern world and find their tribe. The Red Tent Aotearoa movement has the aim to connect, collaborate, and create a community of strong and educated women in a supportive & nurturing environment.
We establish community networks and support between women by hosting local gatherings, and events in what we call 'Red Tents. 'Red Tent Aotearoa is not religious, and we invite anyone who identifies as female from 11 years + from all walks of life.
It’s our hope for everyone who enters each Red Tent to experience a sense of belonging, sisterhood, and strength that stays with them from then on.

Any questions please reach out to Jill: redtentaotearoa@gmail.com
