Is a surreal and satirical play that blends political commentary with absurd humor. The story follows a nameless protagonist who finds herself trapped in a chaotic dreamscape, where reality is constantly shifting, and figures of power—bureaucrats, clergy, and corrupt officials—morph into grotesque caricatures. As she struggles to navigate this bizarre world, the play critiques societal oppression, hypocrisy, and the absurdity of authority.
Awake by: Mahmoud Behrouzian and Mahvash Azhir
Is a sharp-witted farce about art, identity, and survival. An unnamed female actor lands a crucial role—her only hope for financial stability and possibly motherhood as she fears this may be the last chance she has for becoming a mother. When an obstacle prevents her from performing, she must convince her reluctant husband, a former actor turned job-seeker, to disguise himself as her and take the stage. Inspired by Franca Rame’s Dream, the play blends absurd humor and social critique, turning a desperate situation into a whirlwind of theatrical chaos and biting satire.
