Come join us at Maungahau Lodge. The 2026 Maungahau Walk for Wellbeing will be held at the prestigious farm property Maugahau Lodge, located 32 kilometers southeast of Te Awamutu in the Wharepuhunga district.

We invite you to be a part of this exceptional event, where we aim for you to create lasting memories and forge new friendships.   As you traverse the scenic paths, you will be surrounded by breathtaking views of rolling hills and lush greenery providing the perfect backdrop for this spectacular cross country walk.

Lace up your sneakers and make a difference by participating in this fun and meaningful event. Whether you're walking alone, with friends, or as part of a team, every step counts towards supporting Wellbeing.

We hope you can join us at this event in such a magical location and help raise money for Waikato Rural Support Trust.

THE COURSE

During the trail, you will be surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, including a 5-acre lake, rocky outcrops, and a restored musterers hut by the Puniu stream. Over the course of the 8km walk, you will reach the property's highest point at 580m above sea level. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the upper Puniu catchment valley including Picquit hill farm. To the south lie the Pureora State Forest and the Rangitoto Ranges, to the west are Mount Kakepuku and Mount Pirongia, and to the north stand Mount Maungatautari and the Kaimai Ranges.  There is also a 3km walk available where you can still enjoy the breathtaking farmland and lake just without the view from the highest point.

From the river to the highest point is 370m climb with a gradient no more than 35 degrees.

There are two walking distances to choose from. Please select the one which suits you most.

Ticket price will also include BBQ lunch and a gift bag upon completion of the walk.
