Walk Into History - The unique miner's cottage on the Bendigo Goldfields

Event description

Tour leader Dr Charles Fahey is an expert on miner's cottages in Bendigo and will explore the unique features and share stories behind the miners cottages in the Ironbark area. He will discuss the Miner’s Residence Area as a distinctive feature of land administration that was used to control the goldfields. 

Of special interest will be the early gable roofed miners’ cottages associated with the Miner’s Rights 1855, the Mines Act 1856 and alluvial, puddling and early quartz reef mining phase.
