Event description

MHCC ACT is supporting our members to have a greater understanding and cultural awareness of the local traditional owners of our land, by providing free three-hour Walk on Country training sessions.

By undertaking this training, you will gain a greater appreciation of Ngunnawal history and people, Country and culture. You will also be equipped with tools to promote and engage with reconciliation in a genuine, appropriate, and meaningful way.

This small group (no more than 10 attendees) training is provided by Ngunnawal leader, Richie Allan, Cultural Director for the Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (TOAC).

Note: This training is only available to staff employed by MHCC member organisations. To allow for smaller organisations to send staff, we are limiting registrations to five employees per organisation for each training session.

Please note:

  • The meeting point for this training is Mulligans Flat Car Park.
  • No water or catering is provided. Please bring enough water and snacks for the three hours.
  • A certain level of fitness is required for this slow one to two km walk. There is one short steep hill (25m) that attendees will need to walk.
  • The venue is accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters, but some adjustments may need to be made. Please contact admin@mhccact.org.au if you have any special requirements.
  • Although you may take photos, filming is not appropriate as the purpose of the Walk on Country is to connect to the footprints that walk the earth.

Please do not book this training unless you are reasonably certain you can attend. This free course has been enabled by generosity from the Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation and we request all registered attendees act in good faith. Please advise any cancellations as early as possible.

If the date you want to attend is booked, please register for the waitlist and we will contact you if a position becomes available.

If you would like more information about this training, please contact admin@mhccact.org.au.
