Description

The Limestone Coast Landscape Board is excited to host Walk the Wetland, a free community environmental education event celebrating the importance of wetlands in our region.

This school holiday event aims to increase appreciation, understanding and connection with wetlands in our region. Join us to discover the vital role wetlands play in our environment while enjoying time outdoors in nature.

The event will hold a range of activities throughout the day including:

  • Official opening of the new boardwalk

  • Storytelling sessions

  • Revegetation planting activities

  • Wetland treasure hunt

  • Kids nature crafts

  • Macroinvertebrate sampling

  • Guided bird and plant identification walks.

  • Interactive wetland education presentations.

Activities will include both scheduled sessions and all-day experiences. Attendees can arrive at any time between 10am and 2pm.

Register now to receive a free sausage on the day. You're also welcome to bring your own picnic, with additional food and drinks available to purchase at the event.

Event entry is via Lions Park on Sea Parade. General parking will be available on nearby streets surrounding Lions Park. Designated accessible parking bays will be provided at Lions Park (Sea Parade) and Clarke Park.

This event is hosted by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board and supported by Port MacDonnell Landcare and the Southern Limestone Coast Council.

*Please be advised that pets are not permitted at the event (guide dogs excepted).

*All attendees are required to wear suitable clothing, including sturdy closed-toe footwear. We recommend gumboots!

*Attendees should come prepared for outdoor conditions and bring adequate water and sun protection.
