Join author of A Walking Life (and Montana Master Naturalist) Antonia Malchik for a guided walk and discussion on the health benefits of walking, nature, and walking in nature. From the decades-old practice of “forest bathing” to walking’s effect on depression, stress, cardiovascular health, and more, the health benefits of being in nature—and especially walking in nature—have a wealth of scientific backing. But the best way to learn is to experience them for yourself! We will be enjoying the serenity and nature of Council Grove State Park on the Clark Fork River. This beautiful area features abundant bird life, riparian vegetation, cultural history, and more.

Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of A Walking Life.

Instructor: Antonia Malchik has written essays and articles for AeonThe AtlanticOrionGOODHigh Country News, and a variety of other publications. Her first book, A Walking Life, about the past and future of walking’s role in our shared humanity, is published by Hachette. She is currently working on No Trespassing, a book about ownership, private property, and the theft of the commons past, present, and future. Antonia gives talks on walking, walkability, conservation, public lands and the commons, and private property, and lives in northwest Montana.
