Walking with Grief

Event description

You are invited to join our outdoor educators and Grief Centre volunteers to experience walking in nature with your grief.   This community-based approach to grief support integrates physical activity, forest trails, navigation, mindfulness practice, and supportive therapy.  Each walk will also hold an intention to honour the person who died while engaging with the nurturing qualities of nature - to nurture nature as nature so often nurtures us

The Grief Centre of Western Australia's 'Walking with Grief' Project is a long-held vision of two passionate women, Laura Engel a social worker, and Jocelyn Evans an outdoor educator who have come together with Grief Centre Volunteers to collaborate on the design and running of the Project. Laura is also our Project Coordinator with 15 years of experience working in mental health settings.

The following walks and hikes are free, and open to anyone living with the heartache of grief regardless of how or when the death occurred. No hiking experience is required.

‘Walking with Grief’ is a Project of the Grief Centre of Western Australia run in partnership with Right Foot Forward WA, and funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries.

The Project acknowledges that we will walk on Whadjuk Noongar Country - we recognise that sovereignty over this Land was never ceded, and that it always was, and will be Aboriginal Land.

We look forward to walking in nature with you and your grief.
