Wamboin Crown Reserve Spring Wildflower Walk 2026 repeat!

The first edition of this event was oversubscribed so we are rerunning the event! Our thanks to Jo and Jeff our guides.

The repeat of the Friends of Wamboin Crown Reserve Spring wildflower walk is on Sunday, 4 October 2026. This walk will be a real treat for readers of The Wamboin Whisper, as it will be led by a local naturalist and long-time Whisper contributor.

We’ll meet at 9:45 am at St Andrew’s Church, located on the corner of Norton and Poppet Roads. From there, we’ll carpool to a private property on the slopes of Poppet Hill. Our guide will show us around her property, spotting local wildlife and the unique flora species she’s collected from her travels across Australia. We’ll also walk past the old Gundaroo copper mine road, up to the summit of Poppet Hill to see a stunning patch of Austral Bugel, hopefully in full bloom, before heading back to our cars.

This walk is designed specifically for people interested in identifying flora species so there will be lots of stops along the way. If you’re looking to stretch your legs with a fast walk, then this likely isn’t the walk for you. However one of our future walks will be so please ‘follow’ us to be notified of further events.

Because of access limitations, we’ll be keeping the number of participants small, so please sign up early to make sure you get a spot! We will manage a waiting list for the event.
